Dr Shaun O'Boyle is a scientist and producer, who makes documentaries, develops public engagement initiatives, and works with researchers to improve their communication skills.
AUDIOShaun is a co-founder at Maurice and Shaun, who have produced documentaries and audio stories for Newstalk, Science Gallery, BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, LGBT History Month and Festival of Curiosity. EVENTSShaun produces events that connect audiences with science in new ways. Recently, he led the organisation of March for Science, Ireland and produced events like Probe at Trinity College Dublin and Think:Tank at SCI:COM 2017. He was the Events Programmer at Science Gallery Dublin for two years, producing events like TEDxDublin and Dublin Maker.
TRAININGShaun works with science writer Dr Claire O'Connell to run workshops and courses for researchers on public engagement, science communication, and engaging with the media. They've worked with researchers from different disciplines and career-stages at UCD, DCU, TCD, and NUI, Galway.
RESEARCHShaun has a PhD in Developmental Biology from NUI, Galway and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at UCD. He works as a science adviser for television (RTE, BBC, TV3) and a researcher on exhibitions (TRAUMA, SEEING). As the Research Coordinator at Science Gallery Dublin, Shaun facilitated research in and about the gallery. He also established their Research Ethics Committee.
